Once you login, restrict the amount of time you spend to around 15 minutes a day. If you randomly spend hours on Facebook or Twitter, you must certainly change your approach. You should create a schedule for the time you will access such Social media websites and limit your logging time.
2. Avoid Denial:
Are you spending more than five to six hours to surf and browse around social media websites? Are you feeling that you ignore your office or routine tasks because of social media? You should first give important to your real life and personal commitments as it is crucial to maintain healthy relationships. Don’t be late for your friend’s birthday party just because you want to tweet or update status on Facebook. Spend more time with your family and friends in real life than just chatting with online friends.
5. Fine a new hobby:
Sometimes people spend time on social media simply because they don’t have anything else to do. If you find a new hobby to spend your free time, then you can avoid the addiction to social media. For instance, you can join music or dance class. If you are interested in salsa, you can join salsa dance class where you can meet new friends and also spend time in meaningful way. If you are interested in gardening or cooking, you can spend time on such hobbies rather than sitting in front of your computer all the time and chatting with friends. Try to find some interesting ways to spend time whether it could be sports, cinema or outing with friends. It’s one of the easiest ways to reduce the amount of time you spend on social media.
6. Listen to Advice of Parents and Friends:
If your parents or friends advice you about avoiding social media websites, listen to their advice and act accordingly. If they feel that you are too much obsessed with Social media and don’t spend time with them, you should understand their concern and reevaluate the way you spend time every day. You should believe in real-life friends and real relationships and avoid trusting the online relationships and fake friends that you make on Facebook.
